Talking Of Walking…

Ok not so much walking but driving, but then again it is directly connected to my not walking. I’m not sure if I mentioned it in a previous post –sorry to bore you but I feel this needs a whole post of its own- My Jeep Died, and I am still in mourning pathetic I know.

But I loved that car, ever since I saw a black one towing a matching trailer down the A120 I have loved the shape of them. I promised myself one day I would have that (with a horse as well of course). So I was delighted when not long after getting Nas we got the silver jeep.

It was perfect for us as a family, the dogs could just jump in the back and with the leather seats it didn’t matter if they made it filthy. Even when the boy insisted on leaving sticky haribo everywhere it wasn’t a problem. In the winter I liked knowing I had the 4×4 option. Oh and of course it was always meant to be joined by a matching trailer at some point.

Over  time though the car had ended up costing more and more to keep on the road, the list of things that went wrong with it was endless and every time it went into the garage it was always around the £500 mark. Not to mention the day 2 day cost of running it was also crippling us. Just recently it was costing £25 a day to take Steve to work and back.

Despite all this though, I am heartbroken it’s gone. It happened on 30th may (I only know this because it was Steve’s birthday, I’m not that sad loll) it died and after getting it towed to a garage they pronounced cause of death was the cam belt! So we had it bought back to us, another mechanic came out and verified the verdict. So we had no choice but to sell it and buy what we could afford.

Which as you know money is tight with us at the moment. What we have ended up with is a ford focus; don’t get me wrong it’s a nice enough car. But it’s not one I feel I can let the dogs in and take them for a walk down the woods, no leather seats.  It’s also not something I will be happy driving in the winter. And it definitely won’t tow anything.

So sure it’s nice only costing a tenner a day to take Steve to work now. But the benefits of the jeep outweighed the cost to me.  I am so frustrated in five years of keeping the jeep on the road we only got to tow Nas the once, we did have plans of taking them both out more and now that has just gone back into the pipe as a dream. I think this and the fact it’s not really a vehicle for dogs is making me depressed.

So now you know why I haven’t done much walking recently, the thing is I need to do exercise to lose weight. Luckily I have found a solution for the dogs, when I poo pick now I bring the Horses in so they can have a run around the field with me. I would still like to be able to take them to the beach and forest again soon though.

Here is the video of the Beach ride just so you can see the jeep in action for its one and only time of towing Nas.
