Nas is feeling in high spirits today and not impressed with being in his stable for the second day, I think yesterday he was enjoy a little break from the weather and extra haylage, cuddles etc. he also got to watch me figure out how to put together a pressure washer. Today is another story, he wants out and he wants out now!
He was acting a bit of a pleb when I tied him up on yard to sort out his stable but didn’t get loose. I did manage to get a couple of pictures of his hoof, once he had pulled the poultice off. When I put him back in his stable though the sod bag decided he wasn’t going to stay in there and was out of the door again quick as a bullet.
So after spooking around the yard at the fallen water butt, he finally let me catch him and this time with headcollar on we went back into his stable. This time he was having none of it, and barged me whilst taking the lead rein from my gloveless hands! As you can imagine with a head full of cold by this point he wasn’t my favourite ponio.
So attempt number three -this time with gloves- and a rope around his nose we headed back to the stable… success he is in with the door shut! I can’t blame him to be honest apart from the bit of wind which has given my tinnitus a bashing. The sun is shining and its not bad out there, I am however glad to be back in doors with a cuppa.
The vet was due out again tomorrow, I have just spoken to them and put it off though. I don’t see much point in them coming back out until he is off the pain killers and we know if he is still lame. I know this might seem a bit harsh. But His first sign of there being a problem was over weekend so he hasn’t really had any box rest.
I’ve also got the farrier coming out to have a look later, to give his opinion. The poultice I did yesterday (first in about 20yr) I’m pleased to say stayed on overnight. When he pulled it off this morning there was nothing untoward about it. He’s had his last double sachet of pain killers this morning and the next three days he’s on one twice a day.
I would like to say I’m feeling a little better unfortunately nope! It’s not showing any signs of shifting.
