Superstitions, love them or hate them, I’d be surprised if there is anyone who has none. I have a few some since childhood (Mr Magpie and crossing on the stairs, i got those from my mum, oh and new shoes on the table). I picked up a couple such as don’t open packets the wrong way, and that peacock feathers are unlucky in the house.
The best one has to be you shouldn’t start a diet when the moon is in its waxing phase (before a full moon) but when its waning (after a full moon) apparently this will help you shred those unwanted pounds. I came across this in my teens, when like most girls with nothing better to do i decided i wanted to be a white witch… ha-ha i just bought a few books and a moon chart. I don’t know if there is any truth to any of it, what i do know is the full moon can have an effect on humans and animals. I think it has something to do with the water levels as well but don’t quote me on that. I can usually tell when its full moon time, my mood tends to get a bit aggressive and unreasonable, i also have more neurotic thoughts than usual. This is not good if i am surrounded by people who get affected similarly to me, or if the horses start playing up unnecessary. Usually Nas gets a lot more spooked around this time.
So i don’t know if the dieting superstition is true, i will say that once the full moon has been and gone i seem to have a fresh bout of determination and will power, everything seems a little brighter and calmer. After the incident of nearly killing our car last night in a massive flood (hubby reckoned it would be ok to drive through). I can’t wait for that to happen this month. I ended up eating 6 chocolate bars and an Indian to calm me down after (see i didn’t mention that on twitter lol).
