Itchy Snazzles/Oh No Told Someone My Goal

Nas is a cob; cob to me means hardy, fairly straight forward, good doers, nice disposition and good for novices. Nas is most of these most of the time, he can sometimes be a bit bolshie and has been known to be outright pushy, generally he is good to lead he can be a little bit jumpy when I lead him out in the morning’s. He only tends to get wound up when a horse is getting all excited then he seems to escalate it. only last week he decided he wasn’t going in his stable and knocked me off balance, luckily I had my gloves on so didn’t get too bad rope burns, in 3years this is probably only the 2nd or 3rd time its happened so I don’t think of it as a problem I just have to be on extra guard in the days after in case he thinks he can get away with it again.

Nas can be high maintenance when it comes to stable duties… he is quite messy in the stable. he’s also prone to weight gain but I can only feed him haylage (this has moved onto Horshage) which as you know I shouldn’t feed loads of but when he’s in his stable most days from midday until 8 the next morning finding the right balance of hard feed/roughage has been difficult and as much as I tried to go by the book it just isn’t possible. So with a bit of trial and error we seem to of found the right one for now. I expect it will change once something in his routine changes. Which is going to happen sooner than he thinks? (He he). At the moment my main worry is he’s still very itchy around his withers and although I’ve tried loads of potions and lotions nothing seems to be easing it, so next week he is going to get a full clip so we can see what is going on under all that fur. I’ll let you know how it goes.

so I was in the tack room yesterday evening and was talking to the yard owner (who is generally quite nice, as with all horsey people they can be a bit precious) anyway she was going for a check up a while ago and I asked her how it went, which then lead her onto me… I need to have the test for sugar and cholesterol levels etc, so in my defence I replied ‘humph I’ve lost over 20lbs recently thank you’. I know it was a bit of a bite but you know what it’s like you’re hungry your trying to not eat blah. so that lead on to yes you’ve done well but what with Christmas coming up your liable to put it all back on…. so all indignant again I said ‘well no, I’m going to be riding my horse in 2011’ which got a reply of good for you when? … Argh don’t get me wrong this was all just light hearted banter and no offence was taken on either side…. I replied with ‘1st of January 2011 to be precise’.  Argh I’ve done it now I had the date in my head but didn’t really want to fully voice it to anyone on yard yet but now all eyes are going to be on me. This time though I truly believe I won’t let myself down. Well i hope i wont lol.
