Christmas, was and always will be a time of excess luckily I’m teetotal when it comes to alcohol, even so it still didn’t stop me putting on 7lbs over this festive period. we had bought a lot of goodies so started quite early i think it was around the 18th December i gave up trying to watch what i was eating, the only thing i did do was continue walking the dogs and was obviously fairly busy getting everything ready. When it came to food though i just ate what i wanted when i wanted. This theory is only ok until you want everything all of the time, ARGH.
There did come a point when my cold was kicking in and nothing tasted very nice, so i kept trying to find something that tasted really good…. ok my cold didn’t really kick in until last Wednesday. So there were a few days where the food was just disappointing (not the Christmas lunch). Cakes and sweets just weren’t living up to my expectations. I don’t know if this was because they really weren’t that tasty or because i had in fact eaten far too much already. Either way i came away a little bit disappointed with the food i was eating, so kept looking for something nicer. See this is what happens when you have too much to choose from. If for instance the only thing i had was a chocolate brownie then i know full well i would have made sure i had enjoyed it.
I’ve decided I’m not giving anything specific up for New Year, just the obvious cut backs on sweet and chocolates. As well as cutting my meal sizes back down a notch. Over the Christmas period we stuck to the same principles of if we had cooked breakfast then we didn’t have lunch and if we had full on lunch we didn’t have breakfast. This seems to work for us. And as i never know what is happening sometimes until the last moment, it’s handy not to of had big breakfast when you get a late invite out for lunch.
The one thing i am going to try and do is drink less ‘diet coke’ I’m not giving it up completely but i do find I’m really thirsty at Mo when i drink it, I’m going to start having more sparkling fruit juices (not the diet ones).
I’ve had a shift around of the days that Nas gets done for me so rather than them doing him more days a week than i did him… i will do him five days now and yard will do him the other two. This is good because it gives me a day of at the weekend to spend with family, the other day will be just a me and Horatio day. And it means i don’t have to get up early those days…
We still have quite a few goodies in the house, so even though I am trying to be good I expect there will be a few hiccups over the next few days. Just bear with me, I do have a stock of fruit and yogurt as well so will be introducing them back into my diet gradually, if that’s what works for horses then it should work for me also.
