I’m back from mini break number two and I’m going to fess up straight away I was baaaddd really bad. So bad. Yep you got it I didn’t follow any of what I said I was going to do. In fact that all went out the window the second I drove out the driveway. We ended up going straight into York, where we had breakfast and then bought an insane amount of fudge.
Before heading further north to our cabin… oh hang on we stopped for cream tea on the way. We had intended not to go back out once we arrived at the lodge, but i was a bit hyped up after the early start and long drive, so foolishly I followed Steve’s advice to drive down to Whitby for some chips. Omg our bloody sat nav sent us right across the moors on a single track road with 33% hills. On the way back we found a main road straight through. argh!
In my defence I was just sooo tired, on the Saturday we actually did nothing got up about 9am (that is almost a three hour lay in lol). And then we wallowed in the hot tub most of the day, I read a book and did a jigsaw. In the evening we decided to head out for Chinese.
On Sunday we headed to the Scarborough stopping of at a waterfall on the way, I didn’t really think it through but there was a little walk down to the waterfall and tea room, yep I was focusing on cream tea. We then had a play in the stream and walking along the rocks, Horatio is turning into a proper little boy now.
The walk back up was Hard work but I made it eventually, we then offered a lift back up to the main road for a couple who were also struggling so it wasn’t just me. We got to Scarborough in the afternoon and had a wander along the seafront before Horatio and Steve had a go in a mini tank. We then caught a bus over to the other side where we promptly went on a boat ride; I usually avoid his sort of thing due to my size.
Earlier in the day Steve had wanted to go on the peddle boats which were in the shape of Chinese dragons, I point blank refused I’m so scared I will sink or capsize it. Or worse still look like that scene out of shallow Hal. I know if I think logically about it some of the boats had at least four adults in them and I don’t weigh more than four adults (just the size of a baby elephant- found this out last night!).
It’s times like these that I get really frustrated with my weight and not being able to fully enjoy and participate with activities. I am better than I was, and managed to get into the speed boat without incident. I still have a way to go and need to get back on track for when Horatio is tall enough for theme parks etc.
As much as I enjoy being away I do like coming home, it might be small and need a few adjustments but its still home. The dogs where excited, NAS had his ears pricked ready to welcome us (also glad to report his tail survived the weekend, the bath must of worked). Even Boris the cat popped in to check we were back.
